First Field, run by husband and wife team Theresa and Patrick, crafts a unique ketchup. They source Jersey tomatoes from farmers that practice integrated pest management and the seeds planted are GMO free. As a hobby during college, Theresa, Patrick and their friends all started growing tomatoes together. Patrick, who had been making ketchup as a family tradition growing up in Quebec, was eager to try out the family recipe with their tomatoes. Soon they were hooked to tinkering with the recipe and the company began. First Field is committed to a full four-season cycle of sustainable agriculture. Their recipes reflect an interest in growing their own produce, and, whenever possible, in using fresh ingredients from farms that share a commitment to sustainable growing practices. All of their ingredients are selected from varieties that are suited to local climate and earth-friendly farming practices. Heinz, better watch out!
