Crock and Jar’s Michaela Hayes has established a line of delicious, probiotic-rich fermented and pickled foods made from ingredients sourced from local farms around New York City. Her love of preserving began with the non-profit organization, Just Food, and she honed her skills as the creator of the pickling station at one of New York City’s top restaurants, Gramercy Tavern. By preserving our food seasonally--using time honored food preservation techniques--we can increase the amount of food we grow or buy locally, strengthen our connections with local farmers, gardeners, and other small producers, and support our community with a healthy and nutrition-dense product.
